Joseph Carcello, the Ernst and Young and Business Alumni Professor and department head of accounting and information management in the Haslam College of Business, and executive director of the Corporate Governance Center spoke out against proposed rules that would limit disclosure on investments.
According to MarketWatch, Carcello said the “proposed language is very different than what is currently there. Accepting the proposal would be backtracking in the United States on a fuller disclosure approach the rest of the world required.”
Carcello serves on the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Investor Advisory Committee, where MarketWatch said he strongly opposed the change.
