To: UT Students
From: Melissa Shivers, Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Students

It’s the beginning of another great academic year, and I wanted to make sure you are aware of the many initiatives the Office of the Dean of Students has launched to connect with you throughout the year.

voltalksVol Talks and Walks will begin Wednesday, August 26, with a special “Sweet Treat” edition from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at the Pedestrian Walkway. Stop by to meet me — no appointment necessary — to share your concerns, suggestions, and accomplishments. Moving forward, I will be at the Student Union and various offices and residence halls to visit with students from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. every Wednesday for Vol Talks and Walks. Follow @RockyTopDean on Twitter for updates on where I will be every Wednesday.

LunchHours_socialmedia-FINAL v2Beginning Monday, August 31, you can invite a faculty or staff member to lunch free of charge on Tuesdays and Fridays at Presidential Court Cafe, the Student Union, or Southern Kitchen in Volunteer Hall, through Lunch Hours. To participate, just extend an invitation to a faculty or staff member that you would like to get to know better. You will then need to contact the Office of the Dean of Students to reserve a pair of lunch passes that you’ll pick up from our office before the lunch.

OrangePlateSpecial

The Orange Plate Special is another unique dining opportunity that allows you to enjoy a meal with Chancellor Jimmy G. Cheek and myself at various locations across campus. Follow @RockyTopDean on Twitter and look for tweets throughout the year with information about submitting your name for the chance to attend one of these lunches.
