movein9Are you ready for life on Rocky Top? Campus will be bustling all weekend with students arriving for the fall semester. Move-in day for most students is Saturday, August 15.

For detailed information on specific move-in times for each residence hall, download the UT Housing Guidebook app or scroll through the schedule at the bottom of this page.

As you finish packing, check out this list of things to bring and items to leave at home.

When you arrive on campus, there will be a lot of traffic due to move-in. Make sure you are aware of traffic changes this week due to construction and move-in.

When you arrive on campus, go directly to the main lobby of your assigned residence hall, where staff will direct you to your assigned room.

The University Housing office will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday in Student Services Building Room 405.

University Housing will hold your room until 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 19. If you cannot check in by then, please contact their office at 865-974-2571 for an extension.

Hundreds of volunteers from the campus and community will be on hand to help unload cars. University staff will be available to answer questions for you and your family.

One Stop Express Student Services will have special hours from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday on the first floor of Hodges Library to help students who have questions about financial aid, registration, and fee payment.

VolShop, VolBooks, and VolTech will be open in the Student Union during move-in weekend. VolShop will open at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and will close one hour after the football scrimmage ends. The store will be open from noon until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.

VolTech will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

VolBooks will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The store will also be open with extended hours from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22 and noon to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23.

Students may begin using their Dining Dollars or Flex Plan Dollars at noon on Monday, August 10. A full list of dining locations can be found on the Volunteer Dining website.

UT Police officers will help direct traffic and point vehicles toward available parking areas. Be sure to check detailed driving directions to residence halls in the UT Housing Guidebook app.

Once you’ve settled in to your room, check the Welcome Week schedule for a list of activities and programs taking place Sunday, August 16, through Saturday, August 22. Welcome Week group assignments for first-year students will be e-mailed to their UT e-mail address on Saturday. The message will come from the Office of New Student and Family Programs.

Friday, August 14

Living and Learning Community participants will be able to check in during the following times:

  • Honors and ECAP (Fred D. Brown, Jr. Hall): 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Air Force, Baker and Greenhouse (Morrill Hall): 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
  • Design, ConnectEd, CASNR (Morrill Hall): 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Crescendo (North and South Carrick): 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.
  • Leadership and Service (Massey Hall): 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.
  • Venture (Hess Hall): 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.
  • Volunteer Bridge (Clement Hall): 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.
  • MMP and Pulse (Morrill Hall): 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
  • Engage and RISER (Morrill Hall): 1:130 to 4:00 p.m.
