William McGovern is a US Marine veteran who recently completed two years of study at Pellissippi State Community College and is now set to begin classes in mechanical engineering as a transfer student at UT. This fall, UT is welcoming 1,430 transfer students—up more than 150 over last year.
UT is rolling out the orange carpet to welcome new Vols to campus during its annual Welcome Week. The week is designed to help first-year and transfer students get settled. Events kick off Saturday, August 15, as students move in to residence halls beginning at 8:00 a.m.
UT will welcome 4,722 new Volunteers this week. The Class of 2019 has an average ACT score of 27 and a high school GPA of 3.89. About 49 percent of the class has a high school GPA of 4.0 or higher.
