Bob Gorman, a longtime and beloved member of the UT family, passed away Friday, July 3, after a long illness. He was professor emeritus of political science.

Gorman spent his entire career in higher education. He was an assistant professor at William Patterson College, now William Patterson University, in Wayne, New Jersey, and Hampton Institute, now Hampton University, in Hampton, Virginia, before coming to UT. In 1978, he joined the faculty of the Department of Political Science. He was tenured and promoted to associate professor in 1981 and to professor in 1986. He held an appointment as adjunct professor in cultural studies from 1997 to 1999, and served political science as director of graduate studies from 2004 to 2008. Upon his retirement in 2011, he was named professor emeritus.
