Thirteen Kids U campers, grades 8-12, attending the Food Truck Mania course on campus this week will be serving lunches they helped plan, prep and cook from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, July 9 and 10. The camp teaches young people how to operate a professional food truck and make dishes from world cuisines.

The food truck will be parked outside the UT Conference Center at 600 Henley Street on the Locust Street side of the building.

Thursday’s lunch choices include sesame fried rice, crispy wontons and chicken broccoli stir-fry, or ginger-grilled chicken with teriyaki sauce, vegetables, wonton cookie and fried rice. Friday’s lunch is a Cruze Farm-buttermilk-battered chicken club sandwich with Benton’s bacon and Sweetwater macaroni and cheese.

All items are $5, and the price includes a bottled water or canned beverage. Credit cards are accepted.

The camp is led by chefs Greg Eisele, culinary director of UT’s Culinary Program, and Brandon Wilson, UT culinary graduate and owner of the Gonzo Gourmet food truck.
