At Thursday’s UT Board of Trustees meeting, President Joe DiPietro led a special tribute to President Emeritus Ed Boling, who died on June 18.
DiPietro recognized Boling’s three sons and other family members who attended the meeting. Vice Chair Jim Murphy introduced a moment of silence.
UT President Emeritus Joe Johnson shared thoughts about his longtime colleague and friend, who hired him to work for UT in 1960.
“Ed Boling cared deeply about the University of Tennessee, its campuses, and institutes, and he promoted and worked for each one in a vigorous and even-handed way,” Johnson said.
In 2009, UT Trustees presented Boling with the Lifetime Leadership award and paid tribute to his life through a video. View the video online.
