LunchHours_socialmedia-FINAL v2The Office of the Dean of Students hopes you will consider participating in Lunch Hours, a new initiative designed to create opportunities for you to interact with UT faculty and staff.

Beginning Monday, March 23, you can invite a faculty or staff member to lunch – free of charge – through Lunch Hours. The Office of the Dean of Students has partnered with Volunteer Dining to provide both you and your invited faculty or staff member this free lunch on several Tuesdays and Fridays throughout the remainder of the spring semester at either Presidential Court Cafe or the University Center.

You can participate by extending an invitation to a faculty or staff member that you would like to get to know better. You will then need to contact the Office of the Dean of Students to reserve a pair of lunch passes that you’ll pick up from the office before the lunch. You can use the lunch passes at the dining facility pay station when you and your invited faculty or staff member meet for lunch.

The office’s goals for this program are to encourage students to become better acquainted with faculty members they admire, for faculty to take advantage of opportunities to mentor students, and to create an environment for student interaction with faculty or staff.

It’s important for you to know that this initiative is also in response to the 2014 National Survey of Student Engagement, in which UT seniors ranked opportunities for interaction with administrative staff and offices as important.

The Office of the Dean of Students hopes that you will consider participating in Lunch Hours so that it becomes a Rocky Top tradition.
