Cris Taylor has been named UT’s new director of fleet management and begins work today.
Taylor, a Knoxville native, previously was the fleet manager at the University of Georgia.
“We are pleased that Cris will be leading our fleet management department,” said Brian Browning, director of administrative and support services. “The department is preparing to review its vehicle inventory and implement a new software system, and I’m confident that Cris will lead the department while providing the high level of customer service the campus relies upon.”
Taylor is a retired Navy reservist with years of experience in equipment and vehicle rental and maintenance.
He started as a UH-1 helicopter mechanic in the Army. After leaving active duty, Taylor joined the Navy Reserves while working in the equipment rental industry, rising to the senior level of business operations and maintenance management before leading the University of Georgia’s automotive center.
“I am very excited to join UT Fleet Management,” Taylor said. “Efficiency, effectiveness, and customer service are critical to our operations, and we’re working every day to be among the best departments on campus.”
Taylor fills the position vacated by Mike Moneymaker, the longtime director who passed away last year.
