Center for Transportation Research Director David Clarke was featured prominently in an NBC News report about a fatal train crash in New York on Tuesday night.
The accident occurred when a commuter train struck a car, destroying the car and sending the powered “third rail” up through one of the train’s carriages. Six people were killed and twelve injured in the incident.
In the aftermath of the crash, questions were again raised about how to improve train and railway safety, both of which fall into Clarke’s expertise.
Clarke explained options for improving safety and the costs associated with doing so.
The story can be read at NBC News.
Clarke also spoke on the issue with the Wall Street Journal (subscription required).
