A documentary featuring the Ireland concert tour of the UT Chamber Singers will air on East Tennessee PBS at 3:30 p.m., Sunday.

The film, Journey to the Emerald Isle, captures the Chamber Singers choral ensemble’s summer 2012 trip as they serenaded concert-goers in some of Ireland’s famous cathedrals. It was produced by the Video and Photography Center.

“The documentary has made a significant impact on our students, alumni, and community through its focus on the experiences of the students as they immersed themselves in a culture that was not their own,” said Angie Batey, director of choral activities in the UT School of Music. “In interactions with everyone, from the coach drivers to the lord mayors of Bangor and Belfast, they were at once curious, respectful, and wonderful representatives of the University of Tennessee.”

During the trip, two staff members of the Video and Photography Center produced daily video diaries highlighting the performances and experiences of the group. The playlist can be found online.

This summer, the ensemble will travel to England and host concerts in the country’s cathedrals. The Video and Photography Center will again chronicle the group’s journey and produce another documentary that will debut later this year or in 2016.
