Mary Lucal has been named interim assistant vice chancellor for human resources effective February 1.
In her interim role, Lucal will provide leadership for the Knoxville campus HR team and continue the work of the HR Work Group, working with faculty and employee groups and commissions, as well as with deans, department heads, and cabinet members. She has been serving as HR director of employee relations and recruitment.
Assistant Vice Chancellor Dan Berryman recently announced his resignation effective January 30 to assume the role of vice chancellor of human resources for the Pima Community College District in Tucson, Arizona. A national search for a permanent replacement will begin in March.
Also effective February 1, Ashlie Czyz will begin serving as interim director of employee relations and recruitment. She will continue as executive recruiter for the university and leading the recruitment function for the Knoxville area. Additionally, she will partner with Mike Herbstritt, executive director of employee relations, to provide leadership for the employee relations function for the Knoxville area. Czyz brings strong recruitment and consulting skills to the leadership team.
