Gary McCracken, professor of ecology and evolutionary biology, was a guest on the NPR radio show “On Point with Tom Ashbrook.”  On the call-in show, he discussed bats, Ebola, and bat nprconservation. McCracken is one of the nation’s leading bat experts. His research focuses on animal behavior and interactions with their environments. His current work is focused on bats, insects and viral pathogens. McCracken made groundbreaking discoveries into how viruses jump from host to host, which provides insight for public health authorities as they try to track where the next infectious disease will emerge. He is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
