Students might be heading home for the winter break in a couple of weeks, but UT will still have plenty of events and activities to enjoy during the holiday season.

McClung Museum of Natural History and Culture

The McClung Museum will host two family-friendly events to highlight winter holidays around the world.

Family Fun Day: 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, December 13. Families can enjoy activities, crafts, and tours that explore winter holidays around the world.

Stroller Tour: 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 15. The McClung Museum educator will lead gallery tours exploring winter holidays around the world.

The museum is also holding its annual holiday sale. Items in the museum’s gift shop will be on sale at up to 75 percent off through December 7.

Clarence Brown Theatre

Ebenezer Scrooge and the memorable ghosts return in the Clarence Brown Theatre’s long-running and popular production of A Christmas Carol. Performances take place November 26 through December 21. Visit the Clarence Brown Theatre website for show times and ticket prices.

UT School of Music

UT’s School of Music will host three events to showcase its talent and celebrate the holidays.

Jazz for Tots Concert: 7:00 p.m., December 1, Natalie L. Haslam Music Center Sandra G. Powell Recital Hall. The concert is a charity event for the US Marine Corps Toys for Tots Campaign featuring jazz ensembles performing holiday classics. For admission, bring a new unwrapped toy or a monetary gift to donate to the Toys for Tots campaign.

Winter Choral Concert: 8:00 p.m., December 2, Alumni Memorial Building Cox Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Holiday Musicale: 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, December 7, Historic Westwood, 3425 Kingston Pike. This UT School of Music event, which benefits the school’s scholarship fund, will include live performances of traditional and nontraditional holiday music featuring faculty and students. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served. Suggested donation is $75 per person. Reservations can be made at 865-974-3241 by December 1. Visit the School of Music website for more information.

UT Gardens

UT Gardens will offer two workshops showcasing how to create unique seasonal decorations just in time for the holidays.

Growing Together: Holiday Fairy Garden, 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 13. Attendees will learn to create an indoor seasonally themed fairy garden. Cost is $30 for member families and $40 for nonmember families. Basic materials, plants, and accessories will be provided.

Adult Workshop: Wreath Making Workshop, 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 13. Attendees can learn how to take fresh greenery and create their own holiday wreath. Cost is $30 for members and $40 for nonmembers. Cost of the program includes materials.

VolShop

The VolShop will offer holiday sales on merchandise from Friday, November 28, through Wednesday, December 24, at the University Center, Team Shop at Neyland Stadium, University Commons, and Seventeenth and Cumberland Avenue locations. Sales will include 20 percent off gifts, apparel, and general books.

On Friday, November 28, all Adidas merchandise with the exception of Adidas shoes will be 50 percent off and all New Era caps will be 25 percent off. After the Black Friday sale, all Adidas merchandise with the exception of Adidas shoes will be 40 percent off the regular price from November 29 through December 24.

UT Basketball

Vol fans can watch the men’s and women’s basketball teams play throughout December. For schedules and ticket information, visit UTSports.com.
