Three faculty members have been appointed by the Tennessee State Board of Education to serve on Governor Bill Haslam’s panel to review the state’s K-12 academic standards in English language arts and math.

Susan Groenke, associate professor of English education and director of the Center for Children’s and Young Adult Literature, will be advisory team leader for the English Language Arts Advisory Team for grades 9-12. She also will serve on the English Language Arts Standards Review and Development Committee.

Jo Ann Cady, associate professor of math education, will serve on the Math Advisory Team for grades K-5.

Stephanie Kolitsch, professor of mathematics and director of the West Tennessee STEM Center for Learning at UT Martin, will be advisory team leader for the Math Advisory Team for grades 9-12. She also will serve on the Math Standards Review and Development Committee.

The teams will review Tennessee’s current standards and gather input to make recommendations and propose possible changes to the State Board of Education.

The process will include input from educators and citizens from across the state.
