Even though there are less than six weeks of classes left in the fall semester, SGA is still hard at work drafting legislation, meeting with students and administrators, and hosting events for our fellow students. Below are details about some of SGA’s upcoming events and a few quick reminders:
See You There
Beat Bama Bonfire: SGA is partnering with Campus Entertainment Board for the October edition of Vol Night Long on Friday, October 24, at Fiji Island. The bonfire begins at 9:00 p.m. and includes an appearance by the UT Pep Squad to pump everyone up for the Alabama football game on Saturday. Fireworks start at 10:45 p.m. Vol Night Long activities begin at 11:00 p.m. and include a magician, pumpkin carving, street artists, free food, and more. Check out the Center for Student Engagement Facebook page for more information.
Pizza and Politics: Pizza? Politics? What else could you need? SGA’s Government Affairs Committee will host Pizza and Politics at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, in the Howard H. Baker Center’s Toyota Auditorium. The College Democrats and College Republicans will participate in a debate moderated by Vice Chancellor Vince Carilli. There will be free pizza provided. Check out the SGA Facebook page for more information.
#optIN: It’s that time again! #optIN when you log on to MyUTK by choosing option 1 when you make your Student Programs and Services Fee allocation choice for the spring semester. Screenshot your choice and tweet or Facebook it with the hashtag #optIN. Don’t know about the fee? Learn more here.
If you have something to share with the SGA Senate, stop by during the open forum time at the beginning of each meeting. The next senate meeting is at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, in the UC Shiloh Room.
Graduating in December? You can apply to speak at the commencement ceremony here.
SGA is still looking for senators! Apply today to be a senator for the College of Business, Vol Hall, or Off-Campus.
