Safety is always a top priority on our campus. At the heart of our efforts to promote safety is the UT Police Department. With fifty-two fully commissioned police officers, UTPD works around the clock every day of the year to help ensure your safety on and around campus.
UTPD wants to remind you that a little prevention goes a long way in keeping you and your belongings safe. Personal safety begins with you. It’s important to avoid taking risks and to remain aware of your surroundings at all times.
Avoid walking alone, especially at night. On campus, utilize the T Link service. Also, know the location of blue-light phones on campus. More than 100 phones are placed in various locations throughout campus.
Here are a few more tips from UTPD:
Stay informed about the campus and any criminal activity. Sign up for the UT ALERT emergency text messages and e-mail notifications.
If you notice suspicious activity on or around campus, you can always send an anonymous tip via text message to UTPD by texting the keyword UTPD and your message to 847411.
Follow UTPD on Twitter and review other safety information by visiting safety.utk.edu.
