Senior Brooke Elana Terry has received the 2014 Claxton Medallion. The $5,000 award is given annually to a graduate of the College of Arts and Sciences who will be entering a fifth-year internship in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences to prepare for a career in teaching.
The UT Police Department will host its annual UTPD Memorial Golf Tournament at the Three Ridges Golf Course at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 16. The event raises money to help the children of current and retired police department employees attend the university. The tournament is a four-person team event. The cost is $100 per person,
At the campus’s annual Honors Banquet last week, Chancellor Jimmy G. Cheek celebrated faculty, staff, and students for their accomplishments throughout the past academic year. Suzanne Lenhart, a mathematics professor and Chancellor’s Professor, was recognized for her excellence in academic outreach. Michael Handelsman, director of global studies, received the Ready for the World Award.

Debbie Mackey, senior lecturer of management, has been selected as the 2014 National Faculty Advisor of the Year by the Society for Human Resource Management. Mackey was selected from more than sixty nominees nationwide. She is the first person from UT to win this award since its inception in 1997.
