The Executive Healthcare Business Program recently won several international awards for its work helping medical teams around the nation improve their services and enhance the patient experience.

The program won two of five major awards during the national conference of the Alliance of Continuing Education in the Health Professions, an international association that includes more than 2,200 medical, pharmaceutical, device and continuing education professionals. The alliance gives the award to recognize an entity’s excellence in medical education.

The Executive Healthcare Business Program is based in the UT College of Business Administration.

The program won the 2014 Live CE Activity Award for its work with a hospital system in Salinas, California. Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital System worked with the College of Business Administration to streamline admission procedures, reduce 17.4 staff hours per week and eliminate 80 team phone calls per day.

It also won the 2014 Outcomes and Assessment Award for its work with the 325th Medical Group’s Family Health Clinic at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, Florida. Through its work with UT, the base was able to increase the number of patients served, reduce referrals to outside providers, streamline the referral process, and enhance the patient experience.

“These impressive process improvements were made possible because of the strength of the relationship between our partners and our faculty,” said Lea Anne Law, director of the UT’s Executive Healthcare Business Program. “We are excited about having improved efficiencies and impacting the quality of patient care coast to coast.”
