Facilities Services will conduct a seven day campus-wide steam outage in May.

The outage will begin at 12:01 a.m. Monday, May 12, and will continue until 11:55 p.m. Sunday, May 18.

This outage is part of the project to upgrade the steam plant from coal fired boilers to natural gas. Improvements also will be made to the plant’s electrical equipment and to steam-related equipment both within the plant and across campus.

Providing a steady source of steam is very important to all areas of the campus. Steam is used for the production of hot water, the heating of buildings, sterilizing medical and research equipment, and cooking, among other things.

Facilities Services thanks the campus community for its understanding and support of this important project.
