brad-walkerBrad Walker has joined UT Knoxville’s Office of Emergency Management as an emergency management specialist.

Walker was most recently the emergency management coordinator for Arnold Air Force Base in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Prior to that he served in a similar role for the Aerospace Testing Alliance—a division within Arnold Air Force Base.

The office oversees the campus emergency management plan in close coordination with departments and units. This includes establishing the framework that allows for an integrated approach to prevention, preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation. Brian Gard directs the office, which is part of the Finance and Administration Division.

In his new role Walker will work closely with departments on emergency preparedness planning and training.

“I’m very excited for the opportunity to be a part of the University of Tennessee,” Walker said. “I look forward to working with each department and developing their ability to better respond during an emergency.”

Gard said UT is fortunate that Walker is bringing a career of planning experience to campus. “He will be a valuable asset to departments by facilitating their emergency planning efforts and improving the campus community’s knowledge of how to respond during an incident,” Gard said.
