David Eichenthal, co-author of The Art of the Watchdog: Fighting Fraud, Waste, Abuse and Corruption in Government, will discuss the importance of watchdogs and government oversight in a March 27 lecture.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and will be held in the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy’s Toyota Auditorium, 1640 Cumberland Avenue. It is free and open to the public. Copies of Eichenthal’s book will be sold following the event, and he will be signing them.
In his lecture, Eichenthal will explore how government oversight and watchdogs improve government efficiency and effectiveness while also increasing public confidence.
Eichenthal is a director at Public Financial Management in Chattanooga and a senior research fellow at the New York University School of Law’s Center for Research in Crime and Justice. He is the former president and CEO of the Ochs Center in Chattanooga, a nonprofit policy research institute that works with local governments, foundations, and nonprofit organizations across the nation. Prior to joining the Ochs Center in 2005, Eichenthal served in a series of senior positions in local government in both Chattanooga and New York.
