Power TBasketball season has arrived at UT, with home opening games set for this week and next week.

The first exhibition home game for the men is Saturday, November 2, against Florida Southern College. The first exhibition home game for the women is Monday, November 4, against Carson-Newman College.

Tickets for men’s and women’s games are available at Please be careful about purchasing counterfeit tickets, as all counterfeit tickets will be confiscated at the arena entrances and the patron denied admission.

The university reminds fans of new security rules that prohibit backpacks of any kind or size from entering Thompson-Boling Arena. All items, including purses, are subject to search at the gates. Parcels, purses or other bags larger than twelve inches by twelve inches by twelve inches cannot be brought into the arena. Smoking, including the use of electronic cigarettes, is prohibited inside the arena.

To protect the safety of fans, players, officials, and staff, the following items also are prohibited inside Thompson-Boling Arena:

  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Artificial noisemakers
  • Cameras with professional-grade detachable lenses
  • Cans, bottles, and coolers
  • Open umbrellas
  • Outside food, snacks, and beverages
  • Radios without headsets
  • Signage larger than 8 1/2 inches by 11 inches
  • Stadium seats with arms
  • Strollers
  • Video cameras
  • Weapons, including pocket knives

The UT Police Department encourages all fans to come to the arena carrying as little as possible to expedite their entry.

For men’s games this season, gates will open ninety minutes before tipoff. For women’s games, gates will open sixty minutes before tipoff. Everyone, regardless of age, must have a ticket to enter the arena. Students must enter through Gate A off the west ramp.

Commercial solicitations, including the reselling of tickets to athletic events, music concerts, and other campus events, are barred along Phillip Fulmer Way from Tee Martin Drive to Lake Loudoun Boulevard in front of Thompson-Boling Arena, beginning four hours before the start of a game or event and remaining in effect until the conclusion of the game or event.

Basketball fans with permits can park in designated lots adjacent to the arena. Free parking is available on the agriculture campus with complimentary shuttle service to and from the arena, beginning two hours before the start of the game and resuming near the end of the game.

In order to reduce traffic congestion near the arena, fans are encouraged to use Volunteer Boulevard at Cumberland Avenue or Neyland Drive at Joe Johnson Drive to access parking lots and garages on campus.

Before each game, police will prohibit left turns from northbound Lake Loudoun Boulevard onto Chamique Holdsclaw Drive and left turns from southbound Lake Loudoun Boulevard onto Phillip Fulmer Way.

The section of Phillip Fulmer Way in front of the arena, between Lake Loudoun Boulevard and the G-10 garage, will close fifteen minutes before tipoff and remain closed until the conclusion of the game.
