I am pleased to tell you that faculty and staff will be getting a raise for the third consecutive year.
Today the UT Board of Trustees passed a budget that will allow the Knoxville campus to give all eligible employees a 1.5 percent across-the-board pay raise or $600, whichever is greater. We also will use an additional 1.5 percent pool to reward our best performers and address market and equity pay issues. Next January, we will use a 2 percent pool to make midyear merit and market adjustments.
I want to thank the governor, legislators, and our board members for supporting the across-the-board increase and our goals for merit pay and addressing equity issues.
Across-the-board increases will be effective July 1, 2013, and be paid in the July paychecks for twelve-month faculty and staff. Nine-month faculty and flex-year employees will have an effective date of August 1, 2013. Merit/market pool increases will be paid in August, retroactive to July 1, 2013.
All twelve-month faculty, monthly staff, and biweekly staff must be active on payroll June 30, 2013, to be eligible. Nine-month faculty and flex-year employees must be active as of July 31, 2013, to be eligible.
