The service outage planned for Wednesday evening has been postponed. OIT will make an announcement once the work has been rescheduled.

The Knoxville campus Office of Information Technology will be performing upgrades to the Data Center Network at Stokely Management Center during the normal maintenance window beginning at 10:00 p.m. this evening.

The upgrades to the network will result in a loss of several services through the evening and early morning hours. The work is expected to last between five and seven hours and plans are to restore all affected services no later than 7:00 a.m. Thursday.

The main pages at utk.edu and tennessee.edu will be available. However, many web pages hosted by the utk.edu and tennessee.edu domains, including most departmental sites, the OIT web site, and personal web pages, will be offline. Neither the web page for changing your password nor the university’s online faculty, staff and student directory will not be available.

Additional services will be offline beginning at 10:00 p.m. this evening:

  • Volspace and Sunsite.
  • Sites hosted on my.tennessee.edu, including the UT policies website.
  • Outbound e-mail sent to addresses outside of the UT Knoxvill e-mail system, such as gmail.com and yahoo.com mail, will be queued and delivered once the system is restored.
  • Messages sent via campus LISTSERV. These will also be queued and delivered once service to LISTSERV has been restored.

Access to MyUTK, Blackboard, Banner INB, and IRIS should be unaffected with these changes.

Please contact the OIT Help Desk at 865-974-9900 if you have questions or concerns.
