This Battle of the Orange and Blue blood drive competition was started to help both Tennessee and Kentucky blood centers supply hospitals with blood during the holiday season, when blood collections traditionally run low.
MEDIC, established in 1958, is a not-for-profit blood center and is the only blood collector and supplier for the greater East Tennessee area.
