Stephen L. Mangum has been named dean of the College of Business Administration.

He will begin serving on March 1, 2013. He is currently the senior associate dean at The Ohio State University Max M. Fisher College of Business.

“Dr. Mangum brings a broad range of administrative experience and a strong track record for leadership,” said UT Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor Susan Martin. “He will help build upon the many strengths of the college.”

Mangum will replace Dean Jan Williams who has served as dean since July 2001 and is retiring.

“I am honored to be selected as the next dean of the College of Business Administration,” Mangum said. “I am mindful of the strong legacy of the college, which has been built over the years, and the trust that is being placed in me to work with others building upon that legacy.”

Mangum earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in human resource management from the University of Utah. He earned a doctorate in economics from George Washington University.

He taught and conducted research at George Washington University before joining the faculty of The Ohio State University in 1983. He taught in the Department of Management and Human Resources for several years before managing the department.

He has served as senior associate dean of the Fisher College of Business since 1996. From July 2007 to April 2009, he served as the college’s interim dean.
