Yvonne Kilpatrick has been named assistant dean and director of the Office of Graduate Admissions following a national search. In this role, she will work to enhance services to applicants, current students, and academic programs across the campus.

Kilpatrick previously spent two years as interim director of of the office. During that time she took the lead in developing and implementing major improvements to the office as part of the Top 25 strategic planning effort and instituted staff training and mentoring programs that have attracted national attention from the National Association of Graduate Admissions Professionals.

She served as the director of graduate admissions at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, from 2005 to 2010. In this role she was an adjunct faculty member, participated in strategic planning, and served on the Banner Implementation and Core Team.

Kilpatrick has a bachelor’s degree in administrative services from Freed-Hardeman University, a master’s degree in organizational management from UT Chattanooga, and is completing a doctorate in learning and leadership there.

Kilpatrick actively represents the university in other professional organizations, including the National Association of Foreign Student Advisors and the American Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers.
