KNOXVILLE—The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, will co-host a global supply chain forum in Paris on June 13 and 14 that will feature leaders from international business giants such as Caterpillar and the BIC pen company.
The second annual Western Europe Global Supply Chain Forum will provide a place for senior supply chain executives and renowned faculty to discuss global supply chain issues, opportunities, and best practices.
This year’s program includes a discussion with BIC’s European supply chain vice president, Philippe Raynaud, about capitalizing on supply chains in today’s challenging economic climate. Other discussion leaders include executives from Caterpillar, Geodis, and Soparind Bongrain SA.
UT is partnering with the ESSEC (École Supérieure des Sciences Économiques et Commerciales) Business School in Paris and Singapore to present the forum, which will be held on the ESSEC campus.
Some of the forum’s founding members—Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, and Honeywell—will also be participating.
UT faculty are ranked first worldwide in research productivity for supply chain management. ESSEC is a leading European business school and a world leader in executive education with expertise in logistics and supply chain.
“In the midst of the current challenging European economic environment, supply chain organizations must deliver increasing levels of value to their customers and organizations,” said Shay Scott, director of UT’s Global Supply Chain Forum and a faculty member. “The Paris forum is a rare opportunity for supply chain executives to interact with peers and academics about how to boost corporate performance and deliver superior financial results.”
Additional global supply chain forums are scheduled in Singapore (September 27—28); Knoxville, Tennessee (November 6—9); and Budapest, Hungary (November 13—14). They will be held in collaboration with UT, ESSEC, and the Central European University (CEU) Business School in Budapest, Hungary.
“We believe collaborating with a select group of internationally renowned institutions creates a unique opportunity for each academic partner to bring its strengths, capabilities, and points of view to the forum discussions,” said Ted Stank, Bruce Chair of Excellence in UT’s Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management in the College of Business Administration.
