The Knoxville News Sentinel covered the news of UT’s election of a professor to the National Academy of Sciences. Daniel Simberloff is a distinguished ecology and evolutionary biology professor and only the second UT faculty to be honored by the National Academy of Sciences. He is an ecologist and leading expert on invasive species. “Dan is the essential ecological iconoclast,” said Nathan Sanders, associate professor of ecology and evolutionary biology, in the article “Skim through the roughly 45 conservation biology, ecology, biogeography and general biology textbooks on his shelf, and his work was cited in every single textbook.”
