Two VolsTeach students have been awarded Noyce Scholarships that total more than $30,000.

Mallory Campbell, a junior majoring in ecology and evolutionary biology, and Maria Owens, a senior majoring in chemistry, will each receive $12,000 for two academic years and a $10,000 induction stipend.

They are the second group of recipients. The first Noyce awards were given last fall to Sarah Eakes, a senior majoring in microbiology, Melinda Hopkins, a junior majoring in math, and Joel Smith, a senior majoring in physics.

The scholarships are part of a $1.2 million, five-year grant given to VolsTeach from the Robert Noyce Program of the National Science Foundation. VolsTeach aims to produce secondary math and science teachers to work in high-need school systems.
