The recent expansion of the new Student Union construction site has limited pedestrians’ access routes to Volunteer Boulevard from the east side of campus. Pedestrians are encouraged to use the South Pedestrian Bridge from the Hill to the Haslam Business Building walkway.
Two VolsTeach students have been awarded Noyce Scholarships that total more than $30,000. Mallory Campbell, a junior majoring in ecology and evolutionary biology, and Maria Owens, a senior majoring in chemistry, will each receive $12,000 for two academic years and a $10,000 induction stipend.
More than 200 UT students are spending this week helping children with disabilities at Camp Koinonia. The university’s Therapeutic Recreation program hosts the camp, which provides children with multiple disabilities with an outdoor, educational experience. The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is moving all of its custodial services back in house, ending its agreements with outside cleaning contractors and hiring many of their employees. The transition to in-house custodial services is set to be complete by July 1, 2013, with the hiring of approximately 120 employees.
UT’s Community Action Committee is hosting an hour-long weatherization workshop at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, as part of ongoing Earth Month celebrations.
