Tennessee Athletics has nominated diver Ryan Helms and basketball player Glory Johnson for the H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Post-Graduate Scholarship, and track and field athletes Kevin Carney and Chelsea Knotts for the Brad Davis Community Service Post-Graduate Scholarship. The nominations were announced by the SEC Tuesday.
Former Lady Vol Chamique Holdsclaw will share her story of survival and ultimate victory over depression during a UT alumni event Tuesday, April 10, at the Foundry at the World’s Fair Park site in downtown Knoxville. More than twenty environmental organizations from UT and the surrounding community will showcase their work at the Go Green Fair at from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, on the Johnson-Ward Pedestrian Mall. The fair is part of the campus’s Earth Month celebration.
The Department of Religious Studies is co-sponsoring a one-day workshop on Islam on Saturday, April 14. The workshop, “Teaching and Learning about Islam: Pedagogies and Perspectives,” will be held at the Sarah Simpson Professional Development/Technology Center, 801 Tipton Ave. Attendance is free, but registration is required.
The Commons in Hodges Library will undergo a major renovation this spring. Renovations will begin immediately following this semester’s final exams and continue for several months. The pay-off for some temporary inconvenience will be an updated facility that improves the Studio and provides more group study spaces, more natural light, and better organized services.
