More parking has been added for commuter students, effective Monday, March 26. The Convention Center surface parking lot (also called the Poplar Lot), located on Poplar Street and Henley Street across the railroad tracks just east of the Hill, will accommodate UT commuter students from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday during the academic year.
The addition of this lot is to compensate for the reallocation of spaces in the White Avenue Garage due to the change in visitor parking for the University Center. Commuters are asked to be aware of the new separation of the different parking areas (Commuter C-21, Non-Commuter N-4 and Staff 12) inside the White Avenue garage.
Staff Lot 28 located on Lake Avenue near Melrose Avenue has also been converted to a C-9 commuter lot.
Remember that curbside parking on Phillip Fulmer Way between Peyton Manning Pass and Thompson-Boling Arena has been converted to commuter parking. A few spaces in front of the arena are short-term public parking for the convenience of customers picking up tickets at the box office window.
Additional commuter spaces will be added for the fall 2012 semester in the Church Street United Methodist Church parking lot effective August 15, 2012.
