Chris Cherry, civil and environmental engineering assistant professor, was interviewed for University of Pennsylvania Wharton School’s publication Strategic Management  about electric bikes. Cherry cites multiple reasons as to why e-bikes, once shunned in China, have now caught on. “With the car prices still out of reach for many, e-bikes have become the Cadillacs of the working class. Equipped with removable batteries that can be charged easily at home or in the office, e-bikes are more like scooters and are classified as non-motor vehicles so they’re exempt from the motorcycle restrictions in force in a number of cities,” he cites in the article, “A Bumpy Road Ahead for China’s Electric Bikes.” To read the entire story, visit  http://knowledge.wharton.upenn.edu/arabic/article.cfm?articleid=2751&language_id=1
