US ArmyThe Office of Research is hosting the second session of a two-part workshop on how to seek funding from the Army Research Office (ARO). The session will take place on Tuesday, September 20, in the NIMBioS conference room on the fourth floor of Blount Hall.

Beginning at 8:00 a.m., Stephen Lee, ARO chief scientist, and Doug Kiserow, chief of chemical sciences, will give presentations covering such topics as ARO’s mission, programs, funding opportunities, and research interests.

At 9:30 a.m., those faculty members who attended Part I of the workshop in early September, and whose abstracts are selected for submission to ARO, will have an opportunity to meet individually with Lee or Kiserow to discuss their abstract and receive feedback. Faculty members will be notified via e-mail if their abstract has been chosen, as well as the time and location of their individual meeting.

Registration is required to attend the ARO presentations and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please register at http://research.utk.edu/aro/ no later than Thursday, September 15. If all available spaces are filled before this date, registration will be closed. Attendance at Part I of the workshop is not a prerequisite to attend the Part II presentations by ARO.

ARO serves as the Army’s premier extramural basic research agency in the engineering, physical, information, and life sciences and sponsors research primarily at academic institutions. You can learn more about ARO research interests here.
