Join the run-up to “Do Deutsch!,” this year’s October celebration of all things German, and give yourself a chance to win terrific prizes, including gift cards, sports memorabilia, event tickets, and much, much more!
Starting August 29, UT Knoxville students can enter the “Do Deutsch!” Olympiad, a pentad of creativity contests based upon the theme “German(y) in your Life.” Entries can be in English, Deutsch (German), or a mixture of both.
These creativity competitions are facilitated through BlackBoard, and the entire campus is invited to participate. Instructions are posted at www.dodeutsch.utk.edu/olympiad.
You don’t have to compete in all five categories to be eligible to win. Participants can choose the categories they want to compete in, and each participant may submit one entry per category chosen (Essay, Graphic Arts/Sculpture, Poem/Song, and Speech). Entries may be submitted through Tuesday, September 27.
Then starting Friday, September 30, and ending Wednesday, October 5, the entire campus community is invited to vote to select the local winners. (Voting procedure will be announced at that time.)
Campus winners will be revealed during “Do Deutsch!” Week, October 10–14 (www.dodeutsch.utk.edu/week), and the winner in each of the five categories will then move up to the national competition for a chance to win a trip to Berlin! The German Embassy determines the national winners.
