The University of Tennessee Police Department will host an event next week to assist children of UTPD staff and retirees who attend UT Knoxville.

The fifth annual UTPD Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at the Three Ridges Golf Course at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 20.

The event helps fund the UTPD Memorial Scholarship, which was established in honor of UTPD Officer Ben Bohanan after he was tragically killed on his way home from work. Since the inception of this fund, the fund’s name has been amended to recognize other officers who have passed. Scholarships are awarded annually from the fund to assist UTPD dependents in purchasing books and other items needed to attend UT.

“I am very excited about this year’s tournament,” said UTPD Captain Jeff Severs. “This is the only fundraiser we conduct for the scholarship, and without the tremendous support we have received, it would not have been possible to endow the fund in three years.”

The tournament is a four-person team event. The entry fee is $100 per person or $400 per team. Entry fees include greens fees with cart, hospitality bag, golf shirt, and a catered dinner upon completion. Registration will be available the day of the event.

Additionally, sponsorship opportunities are available for individual holes for $250. Sponsorships also are available for golf carts at $100 for businesses or $25 for individuals.
