UT Knoxville is scheduled to conduct a test of its UT ALERT system this afternoon. The test is tentatively scheduled for 4 p.m.

The UT ALERT system allows students, faculty, and staff to be notified via text message in the event of an emergency or campus closure. The message also can be sent to a designated e-mail address, PDA, or pager. Students, faculty, and staff must opt in to the service. The UT ALERT service is free, though mobile service providers’ regular text messaging fees do apply.

Individuals who have signed up to receive UT ALERT messages should receive a text message and/or e-mail message within a few minutes after the system is activated. To report a problem, e-mail utalert-help@utk.edu or call 974-3061.

To learn more about UT ALERT or to sign up for the service, visit the UT ALERT website.

After receiving today’s UT ALERT message, please take a moment to participate in a short survey to help evaluate the effectiveness of message delivery. The survey is accessible here.
