KNOXVILLE — Ballet Hispanico, one of the leading Hispanic dance groups in America, will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 29, at the Clarence Brown Theatre at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Tickets are $5 for current UT students, $20 for UT faculty and staff and $25 for general admission. Tickets can be purchased online at KnoxvilleTickets.com or at any Tickets Unlimited outlet. They also can be purchased at the ticket office in Thompson-Boling Arena. UT students, faculty and staff may purchase tickets at the Central Ticket Office in the University Center on campus.
Ballet Hispanico, based in Manhattan, has a diverse repertoire that reflects the experience of Hispanic and Latino Americans. Its arsenal of pieces exceeds 75 works created by 45 choreographers around the world.
Tina Ramirez, a Venezuelan-American dancer and choreographer, founded Ballet Hispanico in 1970. It began to serve as a melting pot for dance and Hispanic culture and continues to explore its roots.
In 2009, Eduardo Vilaro, a former Cuban-American principal dancer, became Ballet Hispanico’s artistic director. He uses his years of experience and community outreach to lead the company in hosting classes, workshops, summer camps and community programs.
