The Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy at UT Knoxville has partnered with the Knox County Election Commission and Pyxl, a marketing firm, to recruit at least 200 college students in the Knoxville area to serve as poll workers for the Nov. 2 federal election in Knox County.

J. David Matthews is the new chair of the interior design program at UT Knoxville. Though new to an administrative role, Matthews has 16 years of teaching experience in interior design.

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, has named Brian Gard the director of emergency management for the campus. Gard began his new position Monday, Aug. 23. Gard was formerly director of special events for the UT system. His appointment follows a nationwide search.
