The 25th annual International Festival gave students, faculty, staff and the public a taste of cultures around the globe.
Hosted by the International House, the 2010 International Festival was held on the University Center Plaza at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, on Friday, April 23.
With 16 cultures represented, including 13 international groups, the UC Plaza was alive with the multicultural celebrations and fun. Belly dancers, Cherokee Native American warriors and Chinese acrobats were among those performing.

“All the groups on campus create a lot of diversity here, and I think sometimes it’s a little bit hidden,” said Lee Rhea, assistant director for the Center for International Education and director of the International House. “We try to work with different groups to teach other people about other cultures.”
The featured video shows interviews with festival staff and participants who explain why diversity is vital to collegiate life.
