KNOXVILLE — The College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, has one of the nation’s best MBA programs, according to The Princeton Review, a top education service and evaluation company.
The college’s full-time MBA program is listed in the 2010 edition of “The Best 301 Business Schools.” The 301 schools included in the book are not ranked in any order. UT’s full-time MBA program also appeared in The Princeton Review’s 2009 “Best 296 Business Schools” listing.
The 2010 survey revealed that students in the 17-month program feel well-prepared for real-life business scenarios and believe that the MBA program is “very up-to-date with the current happenings in the business world.”
“Over the past several years, we’ve seen significant strength in the college’s business standings,” said Jan Williams, dean of the College of Business Administration. “We believe that our enhanced focus in international business, supply chain management, and entrepreneurship and innovation has been enhancing the college’s status.”
Through compiling the business schools lists, Princeton Review aims to help students identify which business school is best for them rather than ranking which program is best overall. Each school’s profile contains admission, academics, financial aid, campus life, and career information. Introductory chapters provide advice on taking the
LSAT and GMAT, applying to the schools, and excelling at them.
The rankings are based on surveys of business school students during the 2008-09, 2007-08 and 2006-07 academic years. On average, 65 students at each business school were surveyed.
UT Knoxville’s MBA program was the first in the nation to implement an integrated core curriculum taught by a cross-functional faculty team, the report notes. A cultural exchange program, after-class activities, a focus on entrepreneurship and helpful faculty “make the program stand out.”
Students surveyed from UT Knoxville’s MBA program indicated that Knoxville is one of the “best places to live in the United States” and that at UT Knoxville many are able to find “a good balance between school and social life.”
