For the fourth year in a row, WUTK-FM 90.3 “The Rock,” the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s student-run radio station, has been named the Best Radio Station in Knoxville by local weekly publication Metro Pulse.
The publication’s annual “Best of Knoxville” reader opinion poll also named WUTK general manager Benny Smith as a runner-up in the Best Knoxvillian category, and named show hosts Derek and Rob from WUTK’s “The Funhouse” program as Best Radio Station Personalities.
Smith said he was deeply honored to see the strength of public support in Knoxville for the station.
“This is an incredible honor to be recognized four years in a row by Metro Pulse readers as the best radio station in town,” Smith said. “It’s very moving to see the overall impact our people and programming have on the cultural and musical life of Knoxville.”
WUTK-FM is an independent, noncommercial station owned by the university and operated by the School of Journalism and Electronic Media. The station offers a mix of nationally syndicated programming and locally produced music, news and sports programming created by Smith and UT students.
