Wai Chee Dimock, William Lampson Professor of English and American Studies at Yale University, will speak at UT on Thursday, March 12, as part of the Department of English’s Literature, Criticism and Textual Studies Lecture Series.

Dimock will discuss her work on “Remapping Genre,” 11 a.m. to noon in 1210 McClung Tower. She will give a lecture, “Three Wars: Henry James and Others,” at 3:30 p.m. in 1210-1211 McClung Tower. Both events are free and open to the public.

Dimock is active in the movement to internationalize American literature and has published widely in the fields of U.S. literature and culture studies. She has written books on Melville (Empire for Liberty, Princeton, 1989) and on law and literature (Residues of Justice, Univ. of California Press, 1996). She also has published several collaborative volumes: Rethinking Class (Columbia, 1994); Literature and Science (2002), which was a special issue of American Literature; American Literary Globalism (2005), a special issue of ESQ; “Remapping Genre” (2007), a special issue of PMLA; and Shades of the Planet (Princeton, 2007).
