Margaret ‘Peggy’ Gripshover, adjunct associate professor and lecturer in the Department of Geography, won the inaugural Excellence in Teaching Award in the ten-state Southeastern Division of the Association of American Geographers (SEDAAG).

The award was presented at the recent Honors Banquet of the group’s 63rd annual meeting in Greensboro, NC.

Gripshover is also a recipient of the 2007 Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and a 2008 UT National Alumni Association Award for Outstanding Teaching.

The SEDAAG award cited these previous awards and also her outreach to precollegiate social studies teachers in numerous workshops she has given around the state through the auspices of the Tennessee Geographic Alliance and to the general community through the Speaker’s Bureau of the College of Arts and Sciences and other community organizations.
