Knoxville’s version of America Recycles Day will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, at Market Square. America Recycles Day is a national event that enhances public awareness of the importance of recycling and provides information about local recycling opportunities.
The University of Tennessee is a participating sponsor for the event. Other sponsors include Alcoa, Inc., the Knoxville Recycling Coalition, the City of Knoxville, Knox County Government, Keep Knoxville Beautiful and Waste Connections, Inc. These sponsors will provide helpful information about ways people can start recycling in their daily lives, how each organization plays a part in community recycling, and why it’s worthwhile to squeeze recycling into your busy lifestyles.
There will be opportunities to win a new recycling bin by signing a pledge card to signify your commitment to increase recycling habits at home and work. Attend this event and learn how to make Knoxville a city that is known for recycling!
