Each month UT’s Positive Recognition Committee selects one employee to receive the Send Roses Award for outstanding courtesy and customer service. This month’s recipient was Facilities Services’ Jim McCarter, a senior computer support specialist who goes above and beyond the call of duty.
UT Knoxville has been chosen to be a regional recruitment office for the Peace Corps. Andy Ray, a UT graduate student who spent two years serving in the Peace Corps in Costa Rica, is the campus recruiter. The Peace Corps is funding his part-time position in the Center for International Education to promote the Peace
Students at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, will be sleeping outside overnight to raise money for Knox Area Rescue Ministries and increase awareness of homelessness. UT’s chapter of Phi Beta Sigma is participating in the fraternity’s National Sleep-Out on Thursday, Sept. 25.
The Office of the Provost is currently accepting proposals from tenured and tenure-track faculty to teach "129" freshman seminars for the spring semester. These are one-credit courses offered on a satisfactory/no credit basis, with enrollment capped at 18 students. They are designed to introduce students to the wonders of learning, and to professors’ intellectual passions.
