KNOXVILLE — Potential law school applicants in East Tennessee are invited to attend a Law School Admission Workshop and Recruitment Fair at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, on Sept. 10.
“Anyone who is considering law as a career and is specifically interested in the law school admissions process should attend this event,” said Karen R. Britton, director of admissions, financial aid and career services for UT’s College of Law.
Scheduled activities include:
–Admission Workshop. Panelists will discuss preparing for law school as an undergraduate, the law school admission process and the LSAT from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Shiloh Room of the University Center. Catherine Anderson, assistant director of Arts & Sciences Advising Services, and Britton will lead this session.
–Q & A with Admissions Officers. Prospective students are invited to discuss the admission process and seek advice from a panel of admissions officers from public and private law schools from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Shiloh Room of the University Center.
–Recruitment Fair. Admissions representatives from law schools in the Southeast will meet with prospective students. Other law schools participating include Alabama, Charleston, Cumberland, Emory, Georgia, Georgia State, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Memphis, Mercer, Mississippi College, Richmond, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and Washington & Lee. The Recruitment Fair will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. in the College of Law Commons and Rotunda.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to learn how to apply to law school and to meet face to face with admissions decision makers from UT and other law schools in the Southeast,” Britton said.
UT’s Phi Alpha Delta pre-law society president, Channing Watson, encourages students who are thinking about law school to participate: “The law forum is a great way for all pre-law students to meet law schools from around the country and to understand more about the admissions process. I highly recommend that all students even interested in law should go to the law forum.”
The UT College of Law is located at 1505 W. Cumberland Ave., directly across the street from the University Center. Parking is available in the University Center Garage on Phillip Fulmer Way. Parking tickets must be validated at the fair to receive the conference rate.
The workshop is free and no preregistration is necessary.
