Move-in DayDear Deans, Directors and Department Heads:

The Department of University Housing is revising its new student move-in procedure to provide the strongest welcoming presence possible as students and their parents arrive on campus. As a leader of this university you can send a positive message to our students and their parents by participating in move-in activities on Saturday, August 16th.

We are not asking you to move furniture, lift boxes, or in general sweat it out as students arrive. Instead, we simply want you to welcome students and their parents, and to identify yourself and your position in the university. Meeting a chancellor, provost, vice-chancellor, vice-provost, dean, director or department head on move-in day will make a terrific and long-lasting first impression of our campus.

This year residence hall assistants (RAs) will check-in students on their floors; therefore, we are recruiting campus leaders to work four-hour shifts at the front desk or lobby of each residence hall. Your duties will be confined to giving directions to the elevators, checking out luggage carts, logging in students at the front desk, and answering general questions. All residence hall lobbies are air-conditioned.

We would like you to volunteer for one of the following blocks on Saturday, August 16:

7:00 AM-11:00 AM

11:00 AM – 3:00 PM

3:00 PM – 7:00PM.

If you are able to participate, please contact either Ashley Quesenberry at aquesenb@utk.edu or Chris Perez at cperez6@utk.edu.
